HA ASHKENAZIM is a 52-minute documentary short about Asaf Galay’s attempt to organize an “Ashkenazi Identity Movement” in Israel. Who is “the majority” if Ashkenazim in Israel are now thinking of themselves as “a minority,” how does “Ashkenazi Identity” relate to the troubling term “Post-Zionism,” & why should these topics be of specific interest to Jewish Americans?

Come to one of Chicago YIVO’s screenings on Weds, June 17th & find out!

Screening One: Skokie Public Library (12:15—1:15 PM)

Screening Two: Harold Washington Library Center (6:30—8:30 PM)

Note: The HWLC screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring professors Orit Bashkin & Na’ama Rokem of the University of Chicago.

All Chicago YIVO Society “Summer Festival of Yiddish Culture” events are free & open to the public, and remember: You don’t have to be Jewish to love Levy’s!
